April in Amsterdam

Museumplein and Rijksmuseum
2005 Dasha in Amsterdam
In April 2017 I flew over to the Netherlands to visit my friends Eda and Owen, who moved to Amsterdam for a year. The plan was to hang with friends, celebrate my 31st birthday, and travel South for the second wedding of our other friends! So many positive things jumbled into one week. I went to Amsterdam for the first time in 2005 when my friend Ursula (of Dashville7 fame) and I backpacked through Europe together. Back then we went to museums, walked the canals, and yes, ate space cake, smoked, watched Batman Begins in theaters and cried. This time was much more quaint! While it turned out to be a big group of us friends traveling around Amsterdam, then down to Eys for the wedding, and exploring Maastricht on my birthday, there was very little debauchery to be had. Ah, the difference between 19 years old and 31! My favorite memories from that week were biking around Amsterdam with Eda and taking in all the sights I had missed years ago because we stayed in the center of the city. Here's a collection of photos split up by 1. Bike Rides 2. Sights and 3. Food and drinks

Bike Rides
Just a couple hours after I landed, we biked to Amstelpark to take in some Dutch views.
