April 2014 was my 5th time in San Francisco/Bay Area. The first time was June 2008 on a 12-day USA road trip. Then April 2010 and August 2010 as a "Do I want to live here? Do I want to go to grad school here?" trip. Then again July 2011 as part of a 6 week US road trip! I always think of this city as the place to be, the place to live. We all have a "the grass is greener on the other side" location, I think, and San Francisco is mine. My 5th time in the Bay Area and I was still doing new things, seeing new parks, hiking new spots. Here are the photos from San Fran itself, it may be missing some big highlights since I did not revisit most things (ie steep 'n curvy Lombard Street, Dolores Park [under renovation], Fisherman's Wharf, etc, etc) but I still wanted to share my trip with you. (Next posts: Sonoma Wine Country and a hike on Mt. Tam.)

| Palace of Fine Arts - designed by Bernard Maybeck in the Greek and Roman style, it was originally built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition. It was rebuilt in 1965 because people loved it...because it's gorgeous and takes you to another time and place when you're walking the grounds. |
