Birthday Explorations in Maastricht, Netherlands

The quiet streets of Maastricht
Our Dutch gang of 5 drove about 2.5 hours south to the small town of Eys for our friends' Dutch wedding celebrations. We all know each other from the States (Florida, New York, New Jersey - many states!) so it was super fun to be out in The Netherlands together. Sam was born and raised in The Netherlands and it was such a pleasure to get to see where she was from, meet her family, and celebrate Sam and George's union. This is us all cleaned up real nice:

At midnight, Sam and George took the spotlight off themselves and sang me Happy Birthday. It was super sweet!

The next day our Dutch gang of 5 drove over to the city of Maastricht, which is just a 15 minute drive to Belgium! Europe is so cool that way; you're always just a hop and a skip away from another country/culture/language. The population in Maastricht is just over 120,000, and it felt that way as we zig zagged through empty streets for a few hours. It was quiet peaceful after a night of partying and celebrating. One of my favorite things about this city were the details above the windows and doors, you'll see some of the photos that I took of those deets. It was nice just to walk around this small, quiet, and pretty city and stop to drink some tea and coffee at a cafe in a square near a Gothic style church.
